Please don't give undergarments to the second hand shop

I walked to the mailbox with my dad this morning and some how community service got brought up. Let me just start by saying yes, I did get community service recently, and yes i did all my hours. Its where I chose to do those hours that enlightened me.
I chose to do my hours at the ARC, (Association of Retarded Citizens). Anyway, so my first "duty" is to sort the clothes.
I'm standing in this row of workers like an assembly line and the first guy is taking boxes or bags and ripping them open and dumping them on the table with a wall built up behind it so the clothes can pile high and not drop off the other side. The girl next to me is giving me direction.
"K so first you inspect the item, look for holes, tears, broken zippers, or if it is dirty..oh and if it smells do not open it, do not inspect it..trust me just throw it away behind you. I ask "Do they get washed?"
Anyway, she is still talking...
"If it is women's it goes here, men's it goes here, children's here, and seasonal here"...and as she is pointing around to where to put stuff she picks out a pair of undergarments.
So anyway she starts by opening the underwear up, and talking while she is looking down in them,...." now for underwear you have to look if there is any kind of stain and if there is any at all then they have been worn so throw them away."
Now first of all, WHO IS DONATING THEIR UNDERWEAR TO GOODWILL AND PLEASE STOP!!! ONE DAY YOU ARE GOING TO BE DOING COMMUNITY SERVICE, AND SO HELP ME I HOPE YOU COME ACROSS SOME MAN UNDIES! WITH SKIDS!
I looked at her and said "if I do come across some donated underwear, I will not be touching them, and if I do I will be flinging them in the general direction of the trash hoping I make it.
There will be no sorting, no checking, no sniffing for cleanliness, just fling out you go, fling out you go, and so on!

  1. Seriously? No underwear? What do the really poor people do for underwear then? We should just throw our underwear away? Isn't that wasteful?
